Guilty Run

We had a 'cukur jambul' ceremony on Saturday yesterday, around 3 p.m. As the procession is first for us KL, the supplementary event is almost becoming a habit. There were tonnes of food, with families coming in hordes. We had noodles, chicken curries, oh wait... I better stop here, or there'll be a Nigella moment, sneaking in the fridge late at night.

Anyway, knowing it will all crumble, I headed to Sri Siantan (SSP) pool in the morning - my first visit. The pool is sizeable, opens from 8 a.m. and closes at midnight everyday. A session spans for 3 hours with 15 mins break. The 50m pool has 8 lanes, but with no floatlines. The crowd was really, really small with only 4 lanes occupied when I arrived at 9, but by the time I left at 10, it was filling up fast. No swimming class seen around there, but parents, as usual, keep to the edge of the pool with their kids.

I had an easy day, after a shock doing 8x100s the day earlier. The swim at SSP was more on correcting my own strokes and breathing, which is a lot easier when done alone. My pace has been awkward, after I skipped many afternoon swims (the pool at my house is temporarily grounded), so I took my time to picture what Eric has told me, and practice really slowly.
I got up after 700m, as there were still many shopping to be done - flowers for bunga rampai, santan, ulam-ulam for lunch, etc etc etc.

A day of mindless eating leads to a lot of guilt. Dah lah tak run for 3 weeks, boleh makan mindlessly pulak XD.
So, today I took it to the road, running Kepong Metro. When I got out, the rain had just stopped, and it was great. I started with easy warm-up, walking for 300m, and shuffled on. My Orthopaedics prohibits hard running, so shuffle slowly is all I could muster.
Thought of doing a lap (4k) but I felt good, no backpain, or pain on my left groin, so I went on another loop and a little more. I finished OK after an hour of running. Slow marathon pace, but breathing heavy. Geez, I missed my runs. And you know what? Sundown is 6 weeks away! And SCKLM 4 weeks after. I have to re-visit my old plans which stopped at LSD in Cyberjaya. I should have done 22k today before peaking in 2-3 weeks time. Either that, or Sundown is peak for SCKLM? Huh... terlebih angau dah ni...

Well, I am glad it was injury-free. When I took it to KLCC last Wednesday, the side stitches came back but it was bearable. I ran OK, although watching closely not to speed when coming downhills. However, there were some effects from the concoction of Glucosamine and Atrodar I am currently in, which gives me more visit to the loo. But in general, it felt great to be amongst the other runners everywhere. For kicks, I am registering for few small races, i.e. Bomba Run etc... it has been awhile, and probably the Milo post-race has been missing me too :D...

We also had a time trial for Iris, as we enrolled her into swimming class at IIS. But unfortunately, her class will only start in 2nd week of May. But undeterred, she happily fooled around in the wading pool, and seemed to have enjoyed the company of many kids around her. She will start in the lowest class, learning water confidence, and other basic swimming lessons.

It has been a busy weekend. Mostly, I think our weekends are far busier if compared to weekdays. Looking at it, tomorrow's Monday is ain't that bad.

I'm guilty as charged too.

Alright I'm going for a run first thing in the morning tomorrow.

Hopefully...

Anyway what's the glucosamine and atrodar concoction you and tolldoll are talking about?

Is it some secret potion?

Does it make me running a lil bit faster?

Mech - the glucosamine and atrodar are for our injuries - my back, and tolldoll's knees :) - it's keeping us sane, not run faster hahahaha

Ian - going today. ramai ke nak register? No problem, let me know.
