Cycle (indoor) when you can't run

I reconnected with RPM classes this week, after many failed attempts to run in the evening. It has been raining every single freaking day (I love rain tho) and getting enough mileage is not even worth discussing. I ran in the rain a couple of times, and as a result I am developing some mild flu, and that is the last thing you'd want to get this time around. I have long swore off running on treadmills, as I'd be better off doing something else.

Lest to say that SCSM'09 is a month away and approching fast, and I am severely undertrained.

I thought if I keep my feet on the move, I'd be OK. And hey, I only need to beat my 6hour time at SCKLM anyway this time (a modest target), so I thought I'd be OK.

Anyway, the RPM classes are great. I have not been to any for about 2 years, and surprised to catch an old friend/instructor Azmy whom I rode with at California Fitness. His classes have gotten more interesting now with many tempo workouts, and many intense speed (ok, I do not know all the cycling jargons so excuse my words). This is achievable, and it rekindles the fun I had before running. Nonetheless, cycling offers a break from thumping off the tarmac which reduces risks of injury, and I survived ITB-injury free in those one-hour of cycling.

But nothing beats running.

Will see if today dry running is possible, or will it be wet. Should peak at 34km this weekend, but the gradual escalation of my running mileage is non-existence, so, I think I'll just do a survival run, lah kot for Singapore... what a pity.

I can run in the rain, except I hate wet shoes. Sigh...not much choice since it's musim ujan oredi. Indoor cycling is a great xtraining, but like you said, nothing beats running. Here's wishing your 34k comes true. Lari je.

Syah, wanna do a slow 34KM together (maybe 30KM kalau 34km too long)? I dont care if it drizzles but let's just run. I am having the sniffles now anyway. Where can we do the (flat) run?

P.S I enjoy RPM classes.

Haza : I hate the sound of wet shoes while running... so not the sound of music hahah. Tu lah, memang nak redah je lah, memang susah la nak cari hari tak hujan di musim tengkujuh ni

Kash : that sounds good. I have got an invitation by Chap Ayam Runners for a LSD this weekend, tapi tu semua ayam-ayam power, sure pancit punye.

Bukit Kiara/Hartamas route? Saturday, or Sunday this wiken?

why dont we do Sunday then, with the chicken run gang, even though we'll get dropped. Either we do 34KM or 4 hours. 6.30am? Lepas tu brunch at Santai kat TTDI, they've got the best Nasi lemak daging palembang. Or any other makan place u guys can suggest.

but if we are eating at TTDI< I would suggest Kiara-Hartamas-Kiara.

guys, I ended up reading the comments more than your blog entry .... hehheheh

Still contemplating whether to do M2M in Kampar this Sunday, but the 30-35km LSD sounds fun too. Boleh ker nih? I haven't done any running AT ALL. Races were the only training I did.

Ian, safe to say that is the case for me too. Masa blog entry ni dah terlupa pulak our M2M. With SCSM coming fast, we need this kot. Or, do LSD Saturday, Sunday ke Kampar? Pehh... tamak macam AliBaba ehheheheeh
