Hitting the Pay Buttons
I was stuck at the airport again. I hate it when the flights are delayed, and the most they could do is announce their apologies through the speaker. To my already bitter heart, the announcement, repeated over, are non-sensical, emotionless, cold, and meaningless.
I was calculating the ETA in KL, so I could go running, and it was clear the plan was busted. The dark skies when we approached Subang with slight drizzle offers a fantabulous running experience while sorting my head out, but today will not be my day.
Of late, I must say that we, RBUs alike, have really got things going on. We started casually this year, and all of a sudden, post Sundown, everyone became puffed! Turn around 360 degrees, all are catching up with the limited, yet plenty races in a small window before Ramadhan, and returning fast post Syawal.
I feel like I am caught in a massive tsunami of races, and with the good sport that RBUs really are, it is really hard to even think to miss any of these races. Running and laughing myself silly - crank me up everytime! Now the terms that running is addictive has dawned on me in a whole new perspective... with the help of fellow comrades, one can really enjoy the run, being outside and being one with the roads/trails.
It is fairly easy to be swept away when one comrade 'lambung-ed' an entry, and be obliged to join. Many times I have to pull the strings and ask myself whether it will be a worthwhile event, a fun one to that extent, to dive in on impulse. Like the rate of inflation nowadays, my judgment for races will be stripped bare to essentials.
And with fees are freaking escalating, more reasons to pirate juggle and endure the pain that we would enjoy doing for hours on end.
My confirmed, paid races for the remaining of 2010 are rather limited. Funny that I said races, as it sounds like a professional athlete... but having said that, I'll pay for whichever truly necessary. I am weighing myself, and triathlon is not looking out yet. At least not until Aiden finds her steps. The time and training it demands are too strenuous at this point. Pudu Tri will have to wait.
OK, taking stock of what other comrades are doing, I may as well declare my To-Do List for the remainder of this year, so I won't steer off the rails (touch wood, but I normally derail off my Tesco shopping list);
1) Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2010 - Full Marathon
2) Siemens Run - 10k (will not miss the extravaganza on the last km)
3) Shape Run - not sure, but the goodie bag has failed to entice
4) Newton 25k - for the 2XU compression socks, of course
5) Adidas King of the Road - Half Marathon
6) The North Face 100 Duo - woohoo!
7) Genting Trailblazer - 14+km
8) One Mile Dash, Heritage Row, KL
Oh no! Those still looks like a lot, and not without LSDs, gyms, swims, etc. I think I owe my wife a nice vacation!
I did not register for Singapore Marathon as we are planning for something else. If that does not work out, suppose I could always pirate SCMS, with Shuk in tow :)
I agree with Diket - looking at the fees to our satiety is a bomb! Well, it is what it is. With what 2011 seems to be brewing in my head, I am worried. The list needs a lot of Value Engineering. Did someone mentioned... uh never mind...
zzzzzzzzzzzz.............

Because of TNF I got no more money to race!
Nadia - I like the idea of starting at Orchard Road, but the remaining 38k around ECP and other U-turns were not pretty, but however keeping my options open. Feeling that the big appetite is too much to chew :)
Diket - Wowwowwowwow! Trailblazer will give you more dirt whatsoever beyond what Kiara could offer :)
Trailblazer will be a month after TNF rasanya... for you it's a sapsapsui
