It's the end of Week 3. I skipped my 6.5k earlier planned run so we could have a quite family breakfast before Ramadhan, and shift it forward. I thought when the girls are napping, I'd steal 2 hours off.
However the simple plan turned unrealistic when at 4pm, I was still in Summit, playing bowling for the 2010 InterConsultant's match, burning with the smell of defeat. Hehe, our teams were no players, but we sure can shout! My 127, 126 & 159 score is not comparable but we had some good one-arm workout hahah...
Saturday was for LSD, and almost an impossible one if I entertained my silly inner voices for another 5 minutes. After subuh, I made all sorts of excuses not to get up and drive to Bukit Aman. No commitment with other fellow comrades, I drag the idea of doing LSD alone. The only thing that kicked my butts was the thought that the following weeks will be spent not running in the morning, and I'd miss it. I'd probably be waking up to a lazy morning, and embark on a make-some-karipaps project with wifey, and watching the suddenly-so-many cooking shows on the telly.
something is making a comeback!
It was almost 8 when I hit the tarmac, when most runners were making their return to the carpark. But with the iPod in full blast, I charged the hills. Plan was simple - make it to Hartamas and back. And it sure was uneventful, mostly. No roadkills, all drivers behaving well, and all the houses still standing proudly.
After getting to bed super late the night before, the run sure felt heavy on breathing. It felt that the legs were all pumped and powerful, but the chest went blah!
When I arrived at Hartamas, I was so hungry. After all these years, stupid rookie mistakes are still with me. No breakfast... what was I thinking? I hope I am not self-sabotaging myself which may end up in injuries. For a quickie, a bar of Crispy chocolate and a can of Gatorade did the trick. And a bottle of water for the way back - another rookie mistake. A zero-calorie drink when hungry never helps.
I had to resist the temptation of the Double Hills, and quickly made my ways back, comforting myself that the end of LSD is near, that it is just another hill away, to run to the next incline, etc etc. And I love it when returning to the carpark, but not as much as I love sprinting home at Kiara Park.
19.5 + km done in 1:59:39.
I am so nowhere near a sub-2 Half Marathon...
And I have to ganti the missing 6.5k, perhaps spread it 1k/day and make it less significant.
Week 4 rolling in fast. Total mileage target 62km next week... (gulp!)
