Welcome to The North Face 100 Singapore

Race day : 9th October 2010

Registration Opens 7th June 2010

The North Face 100 Singapore returns.

To those who are not familiar with TNF100, it is part of The North Face Global Endurance Races, under its The North Face 100 Asian Series. The other venues in Asia are Tokyo-Japann (tbc), Juyongguan Great Wall (Beijing), Baguio City, Philippines and Thailand (tbc). The next closest venue is Sydney (NSW), and the rest in the Grande Cache, Alberta, Canada, US (Washington, New York, San Francisco, etc), St. Martin de los Andes (Patagonia trails, Argentina), Santiago, Chile as well as the pinnacle in ultra trail at Chamonix Rhone-Alpes, Mont-Blanc, running of heaven trails in a total of 166km and 9400m of positive altitude change across France, Italy and Switzerland.

For TNF100 Singapore, there are 3 categories : 100km Solo, 100km Duo and 50km Duo. For the latter 2 categories, it could either be a open category (Men's or Mixed Gender), or Women Only category.
The 10km Solo is by invitation, and those who completed the recent Sundown Ultra in less than 10 hours may qualify. Only 20 best athletes will be selected to race, which carries through the night.

The Open Category and 100km Solo goes through the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve and Mandai, across the beautiful trails, by the reservoir, and etc.
Kiara Hills will be too technical if compared to these tracks, and to those who have done Genting Trailblazer need not fret, as the trails are generally rolling and wide. A good collection of boardwalks, grass, tarmac, dirt, boulders, (killer) hill, etc to deplete your cells. OK, enough blowing.

For Open Category, the duos are not required to run together if they so wish (as Genting Trailblazer requires you to finish together), as the total running time of each individual runners will be added to make up the total time.

Although this is a trail run, runners need to run with caps and shades (if required) as they will come through open skies and punishing sun, as the race starts well after sunrise, into the mid afternoon.

More details soon... in the meantime, you could read my adventure in doing last years TNF50 duo...

Haza - last time we trained once a week je, tapi includes some strength training at the gym... kalau tak pegi TNF, are you going for Nike's Human Race?

syah/ian, you guys doing TNF 100 Duo? Wahh ... dasyat. Respek.

I love trail running and prolly wanna do TNF50 Duo. That after some reading of the past runs, they say its tougher than a normal 42km full marathon. Despite doing just 25km trail a piece. Anyone interested to team up with mua, cakap. Else I'll let the organizers manage my duo for me. To Singapore again!

Yim - yes, the run is tough, but fun at the same time. For me, it was not punishing like the marathon distance hahahahah

TNF50 yes... we'll rally between us dulu, I think ramai nak participate this year for this very well organised event :)

Shah, I'm kinda interested to go into trail. But need to get shoes for it. What you suggest? Kat mana training?
iamsyah said…
Zaki - we'll hit the dirt soon. There are lots of trail shoes around - North Face, Solomon, Adidas etc. I may not be the right person to ask for shoes as I usually buy whichever in my size hahahah. We usually train in Kiara, Batu Dam, FRIM, Nuang etc. There are lots of trails in KL. Stay tuned...
