Sekeping Serendah

Last 2 weekends just before Ramadhan, we had a sort-of-a retreat, my colleagues, and my family. Everybody have been busy with work, and I have just got my project off for a submission, so we were all roaring to escape and be away for a bit.

The place is called Sekeping Serendah, designed by Seksan (Landscape Architect), and located roughly 15 minutes away from Rawang town. It is a piece of land remotely located and originally designed as their weekend retreat, but it has garnered special requests that they developed the land further to accommodate friends and the likes. 

Sekeping Serendah is home to 4 homes - 2 Glass Sheds, a Mud Shed and a Timber Shed. All are designed close to their hearts, and true to their passion, and surprisingly cheap too. The materials are all basics and design fundamentals are well, fundamental. No plush carpets here, neither warm water, thick duvet etc.

When we arrived, we all cheered to the 'no reception' message on our mobiles (just a short walk outside main gate for all calls etc).

We booked 2 Glass Sheds for all of us. I did not get to stay the night though as we need to get back for Iris's last swimming class before the Ramadhan, but check out the pics! Oh so gorgeous!

 The toilet and shower is completely open to the sky. Female colleagues (and male) complained of fear to get down at night (heheh!). Totally sensuous too... part of the toilets/shower is totally visually accessible from within the house

 The pool is oh-so-cool and cold! No pool tiles, just bare concrete finish that we all had minor cuts from haggling 20sen coins from the base. The colour of the forest gives the green hue to the water

 The Bedroom upstairs for 6. Simple beds and blankets on mesh, with mosquito nets (sleep with open windows)

I used to stay in my grand's house with no walls and timber plank floors, gasoline lights etc... when we weaved our dreams with the sound of the goats, mustered chickens on the rambutan trees etc. But Sekeping Serendah is the luxurious versions of that.

Waking up to the sights of towering trees? Now that's my idea of retreat!

Wished I have a house like that, though.
